
Tom Hayhoe is an associate consultant with Cornerstone. He received an MBA from Stanford before spending five years with strategic consultants McKinsey. He then worked for W H Smith as head of planning and as merchandise director for stationery and cards at W H Smith Retail. He subsequently worked as a project manager and consultant in retailing, consumer goods, distribution, business services and media, operating across all functions. Within the commercial sector, Tom's professional interests lie in strategy, organisational design and supply chain management.
Tom has worked with leading venture capital firms both as an advisor and leading several Management Buy In bids. He has served as the director of a number of private companies, including serving as investor director of SLSS (Holdings), the Oyez Stationery MBO. In 2000 he joined Gamestation, the video game retailer as non-executive chairman, overseeing its growth from 26 to 70 branches and negotiating its sale to Blockbuster in November 2002.
Tom also has considerable experience in healthcare. He has spent many years as a non-executive director of organisations within the NHS, most recently the West London Pathology Consortium where he was chairman between 2000 and 2004; and previously as Deputy Chairman of the Ealing, Hammersmith and Hounslow Health Authority from 1997 to 2000. He now serves as chairman of Building Better Health - West London Limited, a Local Improvement Finance Trust company building new primary and community care premises for the NHS; as well as being on the regional Advisory Committee for Clinical Excellence Awards.
