Cornerstone in the news

John Jennings is advising on a highly innovative plan to transform one of the hardest hit former mining towns in County Durham into a focus for green energy, sustainability and a beacon of new carbon neutral development. The mixed use scheme includes one of the first biomass power centres in the UK, housing, industry and health facilities all benefiting from cheap, sustainable electricity and heating. The plan is integral to the highly ambitious South East Durham Growth Point bid which aims to provide the impetus for rebalancing the housing market, accelerating the performance of the sub-regional economy and securing the sustainable renaissance of areas suffering from multiple deprivation

John Jennings is part of a team working with Dalkia plc on the development and planning of Biomass Heat Generation Plants to help secure the UKs future heating and power needs. Dalkia is jointly owned by Veolia Environment and Electricite de France (EdF). Veolia operates in more than 80 countries with sales of over euro 30 billion. At the heart of this initiative is a commitment to meet the needs of present development, through a combination of social and economic responsibility, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
